7 Reasons why meal plans and diets suck and fail

Meal plans have long been a major pillar of the fitness and nutrition industry. Coaches are taught to create them and Clients are taught to expect them. Through a meal plan you are taught what to eat , your exact portions with specific timings and a lot of food is restricted in order to reach your goal

Reason 1 : You aren't able to stick to the Plan

No matter how excited you are, meal plans can be hard to follow. This is normal. Life can get in the way.
• People get busy and overwhelmed
• Sometimes you are not prepared,
• kids get sick,
• your boss expects you to work late,
• you are on vacation, someone's wedding or a special event), and
• sometimes you just don’t feel like having a snack at 2pm.
What’s more, even if you have a meal plan , you will feel resisting , bored sometimes in a way or another This is also normal. Unfortunately, it means you might not get the results you hope for. For instance, a meal plan you hoped would help you lose weight could actually encourage you to gain weight instead.

7 Reasons

What’s more, even if you have a meal plan , you will feel resisting , bored sometimes in a way or another This is also normal. Unfortunately, it means you might not get the results you hope for. For instance, a meal plan you hoped would help you lose weight could actually encourage you to gain weight instead.

Reason 2: You follow the plan perfectly.

In fact, you follow your plan perfectly for a long period of time .Most meal plans are meant to be temporary. They’re designed to help people get to a specific short-term goal, like dropping a few extra kilos before a certain event, learning to manage blood cholesterol , or cutting weight for an athletic competition. Our bodies can usually adapt to strict systems of eating for a short period of time. But if you’re too strict for a long period of time, you could end up with disordered eating habits and lasting health (mental, metabolic, hormonal, emotional , etc) consequences.

Reason 3: You follow the plan for a while but it sucks.

It isn’t sustainable or meant to last. It doesn’t make you feel better. . Maybe you witnessed some short-term results (or not). But you are fed up of living and eating this way. You start to hate your salad and grilled piece of chicken , moreover you are unable to commit to a diet for more than 3 months Eventually, you get so turned off by the process quit completely. You conclude that “eating healthy” sucks. Think now for a minute if you know someone who could have reached his target and kept long termed suistainable results , the answere will be NO ONE And FINALLY you miss your big chance to learn how to make healthier, more enjoyable, more lasting and real changes.

Reason 4:Real people don’t eat “nutrients”. We eat food.

One of the biggest (yet generally unacknowledged) problems with traditional meal plans is their focus on “nutrients”. Real people don’t eat “nutrients”. We eat food. We eat meals, often with our beloved ones , friends and family. We eat meals that match our cultural background and social interests. Moreover, food remindes us with our childhood . Bakery remindes us with our grandma's house and other emotional memories HOWEVER, professional athletes or bodybuilders (in other words, people who make money off their bodies and athletic skills) use meal plans to prepare for training and competition , they need precise prescription for their meals .

Reason 5:Sometimes Diets give NO RESULTS

When you start a diet and begin restricting certain foods to reach your goals , you lose weight actualy for a certain period of time then you undergo a depressing phase of platue, get bored of food restrictions , then decide to stop dieting and overeat all what you were deprived of , then an endless loop of overeating and dieting starts and you gain weight again .

Reason 6:Diets are unhealthy

Diets are unhealthy They depend upon restricting or eliminating certain foods or adding others in high quantities (( keto , low carb , low fat ,…)) which affects the body functions negatively , make you feel low in energy ,unable to workout prorely , feel sick and exhausted ..

Reason 7:Diets don’t suit your lifestyle , mental and emotional health

Simply they are not designed for YOU!! If you have been to a nutritionist or a dietitian before , you will notice this has happened. You are given a paper to follow regardless your activity level , your metabolism , your daily life circumstances and more No matter what is going on in your life , you are expecting something magical happens Unfortunately , this doesnot work AT ALL .You need a habits change approach and a tailored program for your needs and goals .

Conclusion

Dieting is a horrible way to lose weight , it makes you unhealthy , emotionaly and mentaly worse , increases your cravings and emotional eating leaving you worse than before. What you can do is to start to build small healthy eating habits , work on your mindset for long term sustainable results.
